La Finta Giardiniera (The Pretend Gardener)

Growing Pains

Confusion is in full bloom at a small-town mayor’s estate near Milan, where Violante and her servant are disguised as gardeners to hide from her ex-boyfriend, Belfiore.

Chaos reigns among several would-be couples in this somewhat surreal romp of requited and unrequited love, including an episode where Violante and Belfiore think themselves Greek gods and their friends forest nymphs.

Enjoy wonderful music and imagination from an 18-year-old Mozart in a precursor to Le Nozze di Figaro.

In Italian with English supertitles. New production.
