Spring Ballet

Rhapsodic Dances
Sasha Janes

Beneath the glow of elegant chandeliers, five couples swirl on a wild musical ride to Rachmaninoff’s “Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini.” “Janes infused classical technique with brisk energy to evoke ballroom glamour and romances both smoldering and overheated.” – The Washington Post

Le Jeune
Lauren Lovette

A former principal dancer with New York City Ballet, Lovette began choreographing in 2016. Her 2017 “Le Jeune” (“The Young”), uses Eric Whitacre’s “Equus” to propel the dancers with the galloping abandon of a wild horse. “There’s urgency to Ms. Lovette’s desire to turn ballet inside out. In essence, she has crossed a line from prettiness to power.” – The New York Times

Sandpaper Ballet
Mark Morris

Morris’s playful piece embodies some of America’s most lighthearted orchestral music to display the joy of people dancing together, not for an audience. Featuring 11 pieces by composer Leroy Anderson. The New York Times deems Morris “the most successful and influential choreographer alive, and indisputably the most musical.”
